Summer is the thing to plan around on this route — Phoenix regularly tops 110°F in July and August, so we stage the truck at first light and try to have Phoenix-bound loads rolling before the valley floor heats up. Summer thunderstorms (July–September) can also slow traffic along the route, so we build a little cushion into Phoenix moves those months.
